As the world is becoming more environmentally aware, it’s reassuring to know that manufacturers are making their products more sustainable. Hypnos is committed to reducing their carbon footprint and to using eco-friendly materials of the highest quality.

The first carbon neutral bed maker in the world, Hypnos has offset a total of 6,820 tonnes of CO2, including 736 tonnes in 2017/18 alone. They accomplished this through certified climate projects, including planting trees in the UK and the Amazon. They also provided clean water in Uganda.

All their beds and mattresses are recyclable, ensuring that they never go to landfill. Hypnos has also developed a disposal and recycling service for your old beds and mattresses. This involves the de-construction of these products to create raw materials that can be re-used in other industries. Hypnos also uses natural fibres, like wool, horsehair, cotton, and latex. These materials are 100% biodegradable, recyclable, and free of harmful and allergy-related chemicals. Also, the timber within their divan bases is from managed forests and sustainable sources that comply with the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®), which protects and maintains the world’s forests, and The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification. For more information about the FSC®, you can visit their website.

Hypnos has also embraced a ‘lean and green’ operational culture, which focuses on minimising carbon emissions, energy, and waste. They’ve further eliminated factory waste to landfill, ensuring that any waste goes to a recycling service.
Hypnos is also compliant with the Energy Saving Opportunity Scheme (ESOS), a structured programme of energy audits designed to lower carbon emissions. In line with this commitment, Hypnos operates their Castle Donington site on a biomass heating system, and purchases 100% renewable electricity for the Princes Risborough site.

Hypnos are introducing an eco-friendly attitude into everything they do, including their support for charities and use of natural resources. You can find out more about this in their ‘Committed to Our Environment’ leaflet.
