Cabbages & Roses is a small business that’s continuously adapting and changing. They’re finding their feet in a tumultuous, unpredictable world. Working their way through retail, they interestingly find commercialism uncomfortable, and want to make affordable and inclusive collections without compromising on their manufacturing. One way they’re making sure they do this is through their social responsibility programme. This was launched in 2017 in response to the fashion and textile industry’s reputation as the second most polluting and damaging industry in the world – second only to oil. The aim of the programme is to encourage sustainability.

At Cabbages & Roses, there’s a deep understanding that they must be mindful of the choices they make in their business. They’re especially aware of the effects these choices can have on the environment, and the people they work with.  Cabbages & Roses are focused on designing, creating, and instilling a company culture that not only produces beautiful collections, but also respects our planet.

The company is in the early stages of creating a programme to ensure that the environment sits at the core of their values. This includes supplier relationships, their company culture, and their broader business ethics. They aim to build on these each year so that their sustainability always increases.

3 Core Environmental Focuses:

  • To become an entirely disposable plastic-free company by 2020.
  • To launch a series of tools that enable the business to be more transparent over the next 18 months. These include a carbon calculator, a recycling calculator, and a transparent pricing tool on their website.
  • To source 20% more responsibly sourced fabrics each year when compared to the year before.
